6th Grade Artifact Museum

Our Living Museum was presented by our sixth graders on January 11th and January 12th. The project allowed us to learn our families’ unique histories. Imagine coming across a Torah scroll which was smuggled out of Poland, or a parfait glass from the early 1900’s.

The project run by Mrs. Caspe, Mrs. Frankel, Mrs. Lichtiger, Mrs. Burack, Mrs. Hirschhorn and Mrs. Rubin is multi-faceted. It began with a trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage where our sixth graders toured the artifacts. In fact, Madeline Plotnick’s grandmother was one of our docents! Our students sent home and discussed with their families what artifact would best represent their individual histories. Our data was collected, the artifact picture taken and the card designed. Our thanks to Sam Eisenstadter and Yehuda Gruen for their hard work in adding a slide show presentation to our program.

Our histories do live on; it was wonderful to share in their celebration at our Living Museum.
