As part of the Advisory curriculum for our 8th graders, students from Maayanot and TABC who graduated Yavneh joined us for guided discussions on issues teens face. Rabbi Steven Finkelstein and Dr. Rayzel Yaish met with Dr. Frohlich to plan the event some months ago, but the graduates themselves actually wrote the program. They created and acted in skits which depicted areas of challenge for teens and then led the discussion groups. The girls discussed the topics of Friendship - how it changes in high school and what to do if your friend does something of which you do not approve, i.e. cheating and bullying. They further elaborated on how we choose our friends. The boys focused upon the theme of Competition on how it shows itself in school, sports, and socially. They discussed whether competition is always fair and positive. It was great to see our students interacting with our graduates in an open, frank manner.

We would like to thank all of our alumni who returned to give something back to their alma mater, and we look forward to having these 8th graders come back when they graduate!
