Wednesday of Chanukah was the occasion for our annual Middle School Spelling Bee. Two students from every class in grades 6,7, and 8 were selected via in-class Bees to compete in front of the entire Middle School for the chance to represent Yavneh at the statewide Spelling Bee in a few weeks.With Mrs. Pachon serving as moderator and Mrs. Arnauer and Mrs. Tannenholtz serving as judges, our 24 students demonstrated their remarkable proficiencies at spelling under pressure (fortunately, the words dreidel and chanukiah did not come up). In a tight back-and-forth finish, 8th grader Ayelet Golubtchik emerged as our school champion, beating out fellow 8th grader Jacob Finkelstein in a very close finish.
